He noted that the new Board brings together experienced field media professionals and young professional journalists who firmly believe in union work and in tackling the challenges facing the country’s media sector, with a serious commitment to defending journalists’ moral and material rights and developing the profession.
The President called for further measures to regulate and oversee advertising, review the current composition of the Advertising Fund Committee, and involve the Union in designing its operating mechanisms, ensuring governance and transparency and strengthening the sustainability of national media organisations.
He confirmed the Union’s readiness to cooperate with the Authority on developing the advertising market, protecting national media organisations and journalists, and regulating advertising across digital and print platforms under the prescribed legal frameworks.
Authority President Dieng Amadou Boubou Faria welcomed the Union President and the new Executive Board and congratulated them on the confidence placed in them by journalists at the most recent congress.
