
In a notice circulated on Thursday evening, 16 April 2026, the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union announced the formation of a special committee to receive candidate slates for its fifth ordinary congress, scheduled for 15, 16 and 17 May.

The Executive Board of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union informs Union members that, at its meeting on Thursday 16 April, it decided to appoint a committee to receive candidate slates for the fifth ordinary congress, scheduled for 15, 16 and 17 May.
The committee will maintain a ten-day reception schedule for candidate slates, during the period from 20 to 30 April 2026.
Reception hours will be from five to nine in the evening on working days, and from ten in the morning to two in the afternoon on weekends.
After the ten-day period, no slate will be accepted under any circumstances. An additional five days will be reserved for replacing certain names for those who wish to do so and who submitted their slates during the ten-day submission period.
