
A delegation of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union, led by Union President Ahmed Taleb Ould Maâloum, visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Mauritania at midday on Tuesday 22-04-2025.
The Union delegation was received by Hamid Chabar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Nouakchott.
The meeting discussed prospects for developing relations between the two countries, particularly in the media sector.
In his remarks, the Ambassador praised the quality of relations between the two brotherly countries.
He expressed his continued readiness to consolidate those relations and develop them towards broader horizons, serving the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
He said that the guidance of both countries’ leadership emphasises the need to strengthen cooperation and preserve and reinforce the deeply rooted emotional and historical ties between Morocco and Mauritania.
He explained that the level of cooperation and coordination demonstrates the strength of relations across different fields, especially the media sector.
For his part, the President of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union expressed his pleasure at the meeting and thanked the Kingdom’s Ambassador for the warm reception. He affirmed that the Union recognises the importance of Mauritanian–Moroccan relations and the need to work to strengthen them.
Ould Maâloum expressed the Union’s readiness for ongoing cooperation with the embassy and coordination to create broader partnership opportunities, particularly in journalism and the media.
The President outlined some of the Union Executive Board’s priorities, particularly training in journalism and technical and artistic fields, as well as enhancing journalists’ capabilities.
He stressed the importance of exchanging expertise among workers in the relevant sectors to develop relations between the two brotherly countries.
He noted that the Union maintains distinguished relations with union bodies in the Kingdom, particularly the National Union of the Moroccan Press and the Moroccan Forum of Young Journalists.
He added that the Union is fully prepared to develop these media relations and partnerships so that their shared ambitions in this field can reach their fullest extent.
The meeting was attended by Executive Board members Achrif Ould El Arbi, Deputy Secretary-General; Dr Mohamed Ould El Hacen, Executive Secretary responsible for Culture and Media; Esned Ould Mohamed Sidi, Executive Secretary responsible for Branches and Associations; Dr El Hacen Ould Amar Jouda, Executive Secretary responsible for Resources; and Imam Eddine Ould Ahmedou, Executive Secretary responsible for Disputes and Complaints.
