The President of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union, Mr Ahmed Taleb Ould Maâloum, received members of the public media contributors’ movement in his office in Nouakchott at midday on Monday 15 November 2022.
During the meeting, the President heard the demands which, according to these contributors, had led to the recent movement aimed at informing the relevant authorities of their difficulties and calling for their recruitment.
In response to the movement’s members, the President explained that the Executive Board strongly supports journalists’ legitimate rights.
He added that they had submitted a petition of demands to the relevant authorities, with the contributors’ issue at its forefront.
He affirmed that the Union stands alongside the contributors in their legitimate demands and pledged to convey them again to the relevant authorities, particularly the supervising ministry.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-President, the Secretary-General, her deputy, and the Executive Board member responsible for Complaints and Disputes.
