
The Mauritanian Journalists’ Union signed an understanding and cooperation document with the National Union of Tunisian Journalists in the Tunisian capital on Monday morning 07-11-2022.
The agreement was signed by Mauritanian Journalists’ Union President Mr Ahmed Taleb Ould Maâloum and Tunisian Journalists’ Union President Mr Mohamed Yassine Jelassi.
Both parties agreed on ongoing coordination, cooperation and consultation between the unions, exchange of experience, and work to support quality journalism and legislation relating to the profession.
The memorandum of understanding provides for capacity-building in union development, professional safety and monitoring violations against journalists. It also focuses on mechanisms for joint work through the preparation of shared projects and activities.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr Achrif Ould El Arbi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union; Mr Imam Eddine Ould Ahmedou, Executive Board member responsible for Disputes and Complaints; and Mr Fahem Boukaddous, Executive Director of the National Union of Tunisian Journalists.
