Al Jazeera media freedoms centre delegation meets the Human Rights Commissioner and HAPA President

A delegation from the Al Jazeera Centre for Public Liberties and Human Rights held meetings in Nouakchott on Wednesday with Human Rights Commissioner Cheikh Ahmed Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi and the President of the High Authority for the Press and Audiovisual Media, El Houssein Ould Medou.
The Al Jazeera Centre delegation includes Vice-President Yasser Ahmed Ali and Centre member Mohamed Fares.
The meetings explored ways to cooperate on press freedoms and journalists’ protection, and mechanisms for organising joint activities in these areas.
The delegation is visiting Mauritania, where it is overseeing a seminar and a training course organised in cooperation with the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union and the United Nations Centre for Human Rights Training and Documentation.
