MP Biram Abeid visits the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union

MP Biram Dah Abeid visited the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union headquarters this afternoon, where he was welcomed by Union President Mr Mohamed Salem Ould Dah and members of the Union Council. He was accompanied by an IRA movement delegation led by former minister Abdallah Ould Yali.. The meeting featured an exchange of speeches between the Union President and the IRA leader. Biram explained that the visit formed part of a tour he had been making for some time of media organisations and journalists’ unions, expressing hope that relations would be strengthened in the public interest. He said he was fully ready to make every effort, locally and internationally, to secure the support the press needs. The Union President thanked MP Biram for the visit, outlined the situation of the national press and stressed that politicians should understand what is published by a press sector that still suffers from certain shortcomings. MP and IRA leader Biram Dah had previously visited Radio Mauritania, Al Mouritaniya television and the news agency.
