The Executive Bureau of the Mauritanian Journalists’ Union has decided to boycott the official activities commemorating International Journalists’ Day on the third of next May.
A union source told Al Akhbar that the Union would hold a press conference to discuss the reasons for the decision and similar decisions concerning the conditions facing the press in Mauritania.
It is worth noting that in 2018, Mauritania fell to second place in the Arab world in the press freedom index issued by “Reporters Without Borders”.
