The Union holds a memorial evening for the late Mohamedou Ould Sidi Abdallah

The Mauritanian Journalists’ Union held a memorial evening this Tuesday evening in the National Museum hall in Nouakchott to mark the first anniversary of the death of journalist and writer Mohamedou Ould Sidi Abdallah.

Union President Mr Mohamed Salem Ould Dah said the Union was marking the first anniversary of his passing, asking Allah’s mercy upon him, in recognition of his professional contribution and the affection he left in all journalists’ hearts.

He added that the journalistic community knew the deceased as an accomplished writer of good character, generous and always smiling towards everyone. His memory would remain an inspiration for the new generation of journalists to contribute and uphold authentic values and high moral standards. He wished him mercy and forgiveness.

Writers, thinkers, relatives and journalists took turns speaking, praising the deceased’s character, human values, distinguished role and major contribution to enriching journalism and literature.

The memorial evening was attended by a large gathering of journalists and writers, relatives of the deceased and invited guests.
